compared to previous versions of windows the system requirements of vista is heavy could this make vista low selling product

It's too early to say. After all, Microsoft has been (with the exception of Windows XP) putting out crap for years without losing the market. It could be a failure if enough users hate it so much they stick with XP or switch to Mac or Linux, but most people will probably upgrade to it via a new computer purchase, making it a viable product. As much as many of us would like to see Mac or Linux take over (or at the very least grab a significant part of the market), I don't think the problems with Vista are going to make that happen.

I'm not think that vista is failure.

I just think that vista is not ready for prime time. That's why microsoft try so hard to push average user to buy vista. They pay the hardware manufacturer to put the words "...... recommends windows vista" on their ads. For example, look at newest PC magazine. There is several laptop manufacturers put that words in their ads.

And, the crazy hardware requirement for an operating system is a failure of marketing strategy. Rendering vector is not a primary operating system function, but vista integrate that task into vista. If I am a marketing manager, I will let the "aero" can be install or uninstall separately, and not part of operating system. :)

This is true , you do need some heavy machinery to run vista in all its glory but remember, hardware prices fall like clock work.

the system you need to run vista smoothy today will cost you around 2 grand used or custom built yourself and about 3 at a store.....

next year that same system will only cost half....and vista may also be half....

it may sell slow for now but when the common hardware catches up it;s be just like XP...

So far it has been a dismal failure.
And that is not just my opinion, all you have to do is read the reviews.
Smart people, Businesses and Governments are not really on board with the idea of their operating system dictating to them what they can and cannot do with their own computers.
They are also seriously questioning the wisdom of being held hostage to the whim of a single company, especially one that has a reputation of abject greed, anti-trust and extortion.
Linux is the future.
Either learn it or be left behind.

Vista is a pain in my as*! The little allow/don't allow window pops up repeatedly, like 12 times in a row. How many ways can you tell the dam*ed thing to DON"T ALLOW !?!? I finally turned it off. It sucks.

That all depends on who you ask, mac and linux fanbois are definately going to say its a failure because they tote their own operating systems. For a release of windows, its slow selling, but feature wise, and security wise, it will be good for the average user because it is alot harder to screw up.

All you have to do is take a look at Microsoft's performance in the stock market to see how bad their investors think the company is doing.
It has been a consistant downward trend since the release of Vista.
Don't believe it?
Take a look for your self.

Considering that most serious computer users upgrade their equipment frequently this will probably not be a deterrent.
