Cow's milk is going to give her terrible tummy aches. Cats are lactose intolerant. She may be crying from that.
She's also probably crying because she is scared. She is too young to be away from her mom. Be patient and loving.
As far as the litter box, put any accidents in the litter box and show her. she'll get the idea.

It looks as if you have a very speciel kittie. One that will require alot of speciel needs. I hope you can give it to her, because she will wear your patience thin. It could be she is lonely for other siblings, or mama. It will take time, but in lu of her not hurting from a disorder, she should come around. Try putting a small heating pad down (on low) and see if she likes the warmth. I dont know how long you have had kittie, but time will heal all. Think what it would be liked to be thrown into a world that everyone is so much bigger than you, everything is new (strange), and no one speaks your language. Thanks for giving an unwanted critter a home. She just might turn out to be your best friend!

How long have you had the kitten? Sometimes they need a few days/week to get used to everything. Don't give her the run of the house. Give her one room which will be her "safe" room. Don't give her so much attention. Let her get used to everything. Come into the room to say hello and sit with her. Try to let her come to you. You can put her in the litter box and scratch her paws. Let her jump out. Cats get the idea very quickly and will use the litter box (rare to find one that won't). If the crying persists for another day or two, take her to the vet. She may be ill.

Your kitty is way too young to be away from it's mom, kittens adjust best when they are taken away from their mom's at 12 weeks old. She's crying coz she's searching for her mom and siblings! Kittens learn how to be cats from their mom and siblings, if they are taken away too early, they can have problems later on.
First prize would be to go get another kitty from the shelter, one that is a little older, your baby will adjust much better with a friend around. If you are feeling even more generous, you can adopt a female kitty who has just had her own kittens but needs a home. Most people don't get older cats because they think they won't love you as much, but they do - they seem to realise that you saved them and are SO grateful!
If you can't do this, it's just a waiting game... I got my boy way too young, the shelter also said he was 8 weeks, but I think he was younger, especially when I look at pictures from then. He cried non stop for a month or so, he suffered from bad diarreah as I think his little tummy wasn't ready, even for kitten food. Don't feed your baby milk, it upsets their tummies, and only feed wet kitten food for now - you can put down pellets in a month or so.
My problem with my boy was that as he grew up, he became extremely dependent on us - he would cry and cry and cry if you didn't pick him up, or even if we were in the kitchen trying to make food, and he was in the TV room, he would just keep whinging. I eventually got him a friend, and he's much better adjusted now as he's got her to play with and groom and love - now I've got time to make dinner!
Congrats on rescuing a little baby whatever you decide!

She'll probably outgrow thie crying. I don't think an animal shelter would have allowed her to be adopted if she was too young to be away from her mother and still needed extra care. She could be lonely - now would be a great time to get a second kitten if you want! However, I would just let her outgrow it.
On another note though... if you talk to your cat, she may keep 'talking' back. I had my cat since she was a kitten and now that she's two she still cries whenever she wasnt attention or enters a room. She may not be crying on the sense of fear of lonliness, she may just be 'talking' to you.

Take the milk away it is probably hurting her stomach. Milk is bad for cats. Maybe this will help. She is awfully young to be away from her mom.

Your kitty is just lonesome....It is used to having siblings and a purring mom. Plus the trama of the animal shelter.
It will outgrow it...Just be patient.
Good Luck.
