Similar to sweat. The difference is that it is not extruded from a sweat gland at the skin's surface. It is a result of the body's attempt to cool off an injury, due to heat or friction.

That is whe popping a blister can be so risky. It is an opening into the body, unprotected by a normal, healthy layer of skin. Popping the blister exposes the body to infection, the same as any other wound may do.

A blister is Nature's bandaid and shouldn't be deliberately popped. If it breaks on its own, be sure and wash the area very well and apply a bandaid to protect the tender skin underneath. The serum that leaks out was the body's way of protecting and helping heal and prevent infection in the area.

it's plasma. it's the stuff that your blood is made of. red blood cells are the reason plasma, or blood, appears red. because a blister is beneath your skin, and not in your blood stream, there is no way for red blood cells to form. therefore, it's simply blood without red blood cells.

the liquid is just a fluid that your body produces around an injuried site, its what would cause swelling. its used to help heal the wound.
