Dear Mr. R. Conway:
I suspect you already are aware of Revelation 1:1, which states very clearly the book of Revelation is in signs, symbols, representations.
Thus, for the most part, a literal interpretation is obviously a waste of time.

My quess is that you are speaking of the great locust army? This is the army of Satan himself. The killing that they do is not physical death, its spiritual death. Their
tail, or the part of them that draws people along with them, is the deception that will come over the mass portion of the population, who will think that the first one coming and performing miracles is Jesus Christ.
Actually, the first "jesus" who arrives on the scene is Antichrist, pretending and disguised as Jesus. He comes on the 6th trump; Christ does not return until the 7th.
The times leading up to this event will be full of people starving to death for the truth;
it is the famine of the end times; lies taught in the name of religion, and the mass majority of even religious folks who will be worshipping the devil without even realizing it; massive spiritual death is what this army will bring to its fruition. If you look around, you will see that spiritual death and starvation for truth are both rampant today.
Prophecy is being fulfilled as we speak....

If I was equipping my army and had a large budget- as I assume the Antichrist does - I would bioengineer Manticores for my troops. They can fly and have a poisonous stinger on their tail.

There are two categories of answers for your question. The first category includes modern military equipment that John did not recognize, so he used things he was familiar with to describe that with which he was not familiar. The second category includes special creations in the end times, so John's description would be perfectly accurate instead of symbolical.

Ligers, hahahha that is funny--Ahh gotta love that Napoleon!
-This is symbolic-
Much scripture in the Bible is symbolic.
If you really want to know I can go get out my Revelation study books and give you more on this subject--feel free to e mail me.

For all I know, the "symbols" in Revelation may mean that M&Ms will rain and that Ronald McDonald will turn all kids into lame retards.

it is the Book of Revelation and those and that army is specifically looking for anyone without the seal of God on their forehead. They will strike down and kill 1/3 of the unbelieving population of the world.
