Oooh, where to begin?! How about some plainsong Georgian chants? Or something a few HUNDRED years down the line like the mesmerising counterpoint of J.S. Bach. Fancy some homoerotic ostinatos, Mozart's your man, or for more manly passion move along to Wagner. Still in need of something a little more experimental? After all, you did mention Radiohead; I'd go for Messiaen, or perhaps Schoenburg if you dare. Mark-Anthony Turnage's your man if in need of a 20th Century fix.

'A good place to start would be http://www.pandora.com -you can put in the names of bands that you like and it plays you a selection of other bands with similar styles. You need to register with a US postcode, though 90210 worked for me. It's a good site.

'New' bands that are worth a look:-

Cold War Kids
GoodBooks
Blood Red Shoes
Clor
Tilly and the Wall

Random 'Old' bands/artists:-

Jeff Buckley (A GENIUS -Thom Yorke loved him)
Cream
M.Craft
Janice Joplin
Patti Smith
David Holmes
Herbie Hancock
Ben Harper

Hope that helps

if your into pj harvey and her ilk try some joni mitchell youll be mesmorised
also if your into the later radiohead albums ie kidA onwards try dj shadow - endtroducing
and unkle - psyence fiction
both were chearly a huge influence on radioheads evolving style and the unkle album actually features tom york on vox among others (rabbit in your headlights - if you remember - went to no1 in the uk if memory serves)
