Yes, birth control can help with acne. In high school one of my friends was actually put on birth control pills to help her with her acne, not preventing pregnancy.
I've been on birth control now for 6 years. I originally got on it when I was 16 because I was prescribed the acne medication Accutane. Since Accutane causes horrible birth defects you have to take a pregnancy test every single month and be on some kind of birth control in order to get it filled every month.
I was only on Accutane for a year (and it helped A LOT) but I think the birth control pills also helped. I still get outbreaks, but they are not as bad since I've been on birth control.
Talk to your doctor about it. They might have you try birth control and even ask her about some other alternatives. I've tried all that stuff too and none of it worked for me either! For a while I was getting shots (extremely painful!) for my acne. I also tried Retin-A which helped and then I went to Accutane which helped a lot too. Your doctor might even want to refer you to a dermatologist (that's what my doctor did).
Good luck to you!

There are several birth controls out there than can help with your skin. I would use it as a last resort, though, unless maybe there are other reasons you would need birth control. Go see a dermatologist for more advice. Even a general practitioner can give you more information on what you can do. It could be that the acne is a result of some other problem you may be experiencing. It's also very important when using some of these products that you follow the instructions - being sure to wash your face and apply the medicine in the morning and at night is one example.

Birth control could help acne, but that's an extreme measure that you may not need to take. All the things you've mentioned that you've tried have been over-the-counter acne remedies. Why don't you visit a dermatologist? I've been seeing one for nearly 15 years and not only is my acne completely gone, but my complexion is wonderful! Dermatologists have lots of treatments available to them that just don't hold a candle to the over-the-counter stuff and most likely your insurance would cover it.

Dear, the word is spelled acne. You spelled a word that sounds like ake and means pain.
But back to your question, I know of some women who claim to have better skin while on birth control. In most cases, though, I understand that it does not affect the skin at all.

No it won't. Have a look at your diet, it really needs to be full of fresh fruit and vege. Wear as much natural clothing as you can. All those products you named ALL CONTAIN HIGHLY TOXIC CHEMICALS. No wonder your skin is not clearing up. Get out in the fresh air and get some sun on your skin for goodness sake. Lots of luck.

It works on some people. When I was a teenager, some dermatologists prescribed it to women with problem acne. I suggest you go to a dermatologist and try retin A
