Hi there... before answering your question... a word to thomas... what is it that makes you so hateful? I pity you for it...
According to Islam, there should be no division of sects amongst muslims. So, yes, muslims are in part responsible for the divisions and the problems they are facing.. apart from the fact that middle east is being targetted for all kinds of war by the west...
So, this is a message for all fellow muslims everywhere.. "United we stand, Divided we fall"
Peace...

They lived peacefully next to each other till America arrived. There are American soldiers who dress like Muslims and plant bombs you know and blame it on either side. I'm not saying that there is not genuine conflict between them but the conflict is definitely supported by and added to by the Americans that is for sure.
As a Muslim myself i do not put myself into a sect or proceed the word Muslim with any other word be that moderate, Sufi, Sunni i am simply a Muslim. And as one i have NO divide with any other Muslim no matter what they decide to call themselves they are my Ummah and my brothers and sister and i just pray they all follow the true path.
And for others information Sunni is not a sect. Sunni simply means following the Quran and Sunnah. By definition all Muslims are Sunni if the follow the quran and sunnah. It is the outside word that say Sunni is a sect its not it simply means follower of Quran and sunnah that's it.

No.. the divide occurs through all muslims all across the world, just as there's a worldwide divide between catholics and protestants.
However for the most part this divide only results in violence in the middle east and primarily in Iraq after we took down their government and paved the way for this.

Oh yeah, the Shiites and Sunnis conflicts are not just limited to the ME.
Some civilized, some not-so-civilized.
