1. Tea Tree Oil (You can buy a large bottle of it at any health food store instead of paying Body Shop's prices)

2. Anything with benzoyl peroxide in its ingredients or salicyclic acid. (most acne things use it).

Salicylic acid works by exfoliating the skin thereby reducing the formation of comedones (whiteheads and blackheads). It is an over-the-counter topical medication available in 0.5% to 2.0% strengths.

Benzoyl peroxide can be an effective treatment for mild cases of acne. It is considered safe for adult and child use. Often it is combined with additional topical acne treatments and/or oral medications. The action of benzoyl peroxide is not fully understood; however, it is thought that the medication is absorbed by the skin into the hair follicles where it controls acne by destroying P. acnes, the bacteria that causes acne. Results are typically seen in 2-4 weeks. NOTE: Benzoyl Peroxide kills bacteria, but does not increase the body's resistance to it, nor does it affect sebum production. Therefore, it is important to continue treatment even after the desired results have been achieved.

3. Try a facial mud mask, they also dry out the skin as well.

Don't use toothpaste, that's a myth. It may dry it out, but it's not good for your skin. Buy something that's made for your skin.

But it sounds like you have cystic acne, because they're probably large, red and sometimes hurt right? You need something to dry it out so that it WILL come to head (or sometimes they don't but go away).

If you need something stronger, go see a dermatologist, and I've been using Tazorac for a while now, and it works pretty good.

Don't pop or try and pop the pimple, you'll make it worse. Just apply medication to it, and let it either sink back down and disappear, or come to a head so you CAN pop it safely instead of trying to force the head out. (That also sounded gross).

Right now my skin is perfectly clear, for the first time in 3 years. It's been about 9 weeks and all my acne is gone. It is such a great feeling to wake up with clear skin.

I haven't tried both but when it comes to brand products, I preferred Neutrogena. If your looking for an anti-acne why dont you try the proactiv. According to my cousin its effective. But of course we have different skin types so I guess you have to consult a dermatologist whats the best treatment for your skin.

Any product line with tea tree oil. My husband favors the Body Shop line - it cleared his acne problem up within weeks and he hasn't had a major break-out since last summer when he started using it.

quick fix, toothpaste, not the gel type, put on over night, should be gone....
for the long run..
raw unpasteurized apple cider vinegar
to open the pores and loosen dirt and grease from your face turn off the heat from a pan of distilled water, add 3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar to a quart of the hot water. drape a towel over the pan and your head to steam clean your pores. take a cotton ball, dip in vinegar and pat over skin to remove loosened dirt. repeat 2 more times. then spray or dab on chilled vinegar and equal part of distilled water to close your pores and tone your skin. do twice weekly, also can use the chilled vinegar water as a toner 2 times daily.
it is amazing ....

raw unpasteurized apple cider vinegar
use this apple cider vinegar for rejuvenating results. first, wash the skin in warm water, no soap. next, apply a wrung out hot water soaked cloth to the face for 3 minutes, then remove. soak thin cloth in warm vinegar water 2 tbsp per cup of water and again apply to face. cover the vinegar soaked cloth with a towel wrung out in hot water, relax and lie down for 10 minutes or more, if possible with feet elevated above head. remove both cloths and gently rub skin upwards with towel or small loofah face pad. this rub removes the hundreds of dry skin scales. you can repeat this weekly or as needed. your skin will look youthful and beautiful..
i also drink the vinegar, 1-2 tablespoons in water with honey in the morning..and i use the vinegar water as a toner 2 times daily..
good luck

what worked on us might not work on you! anyway, just to answer your question...I use Proactive and it works.
maybe you can ask your derma or try experimenting yourself..use a product for a period of time (not just a short while) and wait for the changes. good luck!
