The first step is always the hardest. Getting a person to realize they have a problem and that they need help to overcome that problem is never easiest and is always the hardest.

The first step admitting you have a problem and sticking with the program without relapsing.

The first step is hard, but if you have already reached your rock bottom then it is not so hard to admit that you have a problem. For me it was the Fourth step "made a searching and fearless inventory of ourselves" That was a hard one! Good Luck!

Honestly, I think all of them are hard. I have gone through them a few times. A sponsor helps a lot because you can't do it by yourself. To tell you the truth, it always takes more of an effort for me to do the first step because you get lazy. Once you get through that, the rest is cake!!!

Well for me was when my best friend joined AA and he told me part of his learning process in the 12 step program was to cut off anyone or anything that reminded him of alcohol or gave him alcohol.
So i was cut off and there went our friendship. So you tell me.
