no god never does.... why would he take time on you and not the next person?

the only thing that gives you good things is your own karma.

Sure, lots of times. I'll give you an example. It's an Italian tradition for Catholics that when they go into a church they haven't been in before, to ask for "3 wishes." I hadn't heard this before being in a new church with an Italian friend so I figured I'd give it a shot. I really didn't believe that God would go for 3 wishes, so I decided to "test" him. I don't remember what the first 2 were, but the last was to get my dad to stop drinking. He'd been drinking all my life at that point (I was in my late 20s) and 40 years give or take. He only drank beer, for those who think you can't be an alcoholic just drinking beer, and I never, ever in a million years figured this would happen since God would need my father's cooperation and that wasn't likely. Three years later (so it can take time), my father fainted from too much beer and not enough of lots of other things and his doctor told him if he took another drink, he'd die. He hasn't had one since, went cold turkey, and that was 1990. God reminded me of that wish or I wouldn't have remembered that either. Sure, non-believers won't think this is a miracle or an answered prayer, but to me, this is a miracle!

The bible teaches that if you pray god will answer. There are no weasel words about god's will or getting what you need instead of what you ask for. (see Matthew 18:19 as one of many examples)

Clearly this is not the case. The bible lied. Prayers are not answered with any consistency and those that are "answered" can easily be explained as happening due to random chance.

Studies have shown that prayers have no effect and, in fact, can have a negative effect. In the STEP study, persons who knew they were being prayed for had more medical complications than either those who were not prayed for or those who were prayed for but not told about it.

Prayer can give some people strength but the strength comes from themselves, not from god.

YES! God does answer prayer. On 2/15/2007 my job was discontinued. I prayed for 2 days for a job.
I was hired at my new job on 2/20/2007. Faith without works is dead. I was out everyday submitting applications for employment. I also want to share with you that everyday you wake up, can dress yourself, have food on the table, a roof over your head, and family that loves you, your prayers have been answered. If you think the grass is greener on the other side, think of the bigger water bill.

Sometimes the answers weren't the ones I wanted to hear, but they were answers just the same. Looking back, He knew what was better for me than I did.

He does, but only in accordance to His will.
One personal experience was when I faced a job I alone could not do. When I asked for help, inside of the hour I not only had the help, the job was nearly finished.
It required equipment to do, and I knew of no one that had any. This was for a work on church property.

Well, I just moved home from being a missionary in Mexico. More than once, we prayed asking for protection crossing the border. We all felt in our spirits Him saying to cross at a different bridge than we normally used. We crossed at the other bridge and were just fine. We saw later on the news that the bridge we normally used was caught in the cross-fire of a gang drug-trafficking war, and several civillians were shot and killed. Before I left for Mexico in the beginning, I told God that I needed His help. I was about $3000 in credit card debt (with like 30% interest rates) and wouldn't receive a salary when I was there. He told me He would take care of it if I never asked any person for help. I also have a systemic skin disease that if I'm ever stressed or fatigued, my skin breaks out in hives. This happens about 8-9 times a year. He told me He'd take care of that, too. Every month for twelve months, someone who I barely knew (or didn't know at all) sent me exactly my minimum payment for my credit cards. And I never once had anything but beautiful skin. Those are just two of thousands of prayers I've had answers to in the past couple of years.

I know this may seem stupid or silly to some but it really happened. I miss placed one of my school books and couldn't find it. I prayed for God to help me find it. I had searched and taken everything out of my book bag 3 times and it wasn't there. I prayed and when I got to school, there was the book in the top of my book bag.
