I am taking a japanese client climbing for a friend of a friend tonight and I was wondering if anyone knows how to pronounce this name?
Yoichi
Is it Yo-ichi, or Yoy-chi or what

Thanks
Z

Yo-ee-chee.

A respectful way to address him would also be Yo-san. But do this only occassionally and only when you believe it appropriate. Don't overdo it!!

The best time is when you want his attention for something not too important. It's almost like saying, "excuse me, I have a question to ask you".

Do NOT do "Yo-chan" as "chan" (rhymes with "on") is how a person would address a child. (Similar to calling a young boy Johnny, or Tommy.)
