Salt & pepper the roast. Brown it in a pan before putting it in the crockpot. Then add 1/2 cup of beer, wine, or beef broth. Cook it on low or according to your crockpot's instructions.

My grandmother made the BEST roast, sear the meat allover before putting in the crock-pot, then add a couple of crushed garlic cloves, which can be removed later if you like, thin sliced onion - 1, then use 1 pack of onion soup mix and a little water. Cook till it fall apart easily! VERY YUMMY!!

Well first off being slow cooked in the crock pot should make it tender. Secondly. Put Garlic if your family likes it , it always gives a better flavor.
When I make roast (My Grandpa loves it) He likes to have Potatoes, Carrots, Onions, Garlic, Bell Pepper and Celery cooked in with it. Then have Potatoes cooked by them selves. The Veggies that was cooked with the roast. Will go into a pot of stew and save him work later!

i use an onion soup mix add water, then put the meat in, and cut up an onion for more flavor. cook on low while you are at work or for about 6 hours. when you get home, cut up potatoes, carrots and celery and put in crock pot with the meat. cook on high til veggies are tender. the meat will be so tender it will basically fall apart. it is so awesome. hope you enjoy!!
