I'm 16 years old, 155 pounds, 5'11". A run a lot and am a member of a rowing club (crew). We work out 6 days a week. I feel very fit, but I believe my diet needs improvement. I need suggestions on a daily nutritional intake. I wish to be as healthy as whats physically possible. What types of nutrients are most critical to me? I know what I need in general, but I dont know enough about nutrition to effectively start my own plan. Since I'm in crew, I burn a lot of calories, easily over 3500. I want a diet that will keep me fit and provide me with a maximum amount of energy. I do wish to bulk up and gain muscle mass, but I'm not trying to gain too much weight.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what kinds of foods should be in my diet? and what should I be eating for breakfast, lunch, and dinner?
Let me know if you need to know anything else.

I train in jiu jitsu about 5x's per week, and also compete. I swim a mile every morning, and in the evenings lift weights. I could not do it without the proper suppliments. I am 36, and feel better than I did at 18.

I use "NO Explode" prior to working out, RELIV CLASSIC and RELIV INNERGIZE every morning and eat plenty of protien thoughout the day....hope this helps.

It sounds like you have a good attitude about exercise and you want to "eat right" to fuel your body.

I advise AGAINST taking "supplements" - you can get the calories and nutrients you need from plain old food! Do you have health insurance? If so, go with a parent to your doctor and get a referral to a sports nutritionist.

The usual advice (for every human, not just super-fit ones like you) is: Fat 20-35%, Carbohydrates 45-65%, Protein 10-35%, and Saturated Fats less than 9%

An easy way to immediately accomplish "eating better" is to stop eating junk and processed foods. Replace them with whole fruits, veggies, and if needed, protein bars made of "whole food" ingredients, i.e. not over-processed.

use this to help you learn how and what to eat. you need to eat plenty of protein, so maybe a protein drink once or twice a day would help.
