Hit the cue ball just below center.....keep your butt(cue) level and then stroke it....contacting the cue ball just below center.....with the cue level then follow thru the cueball.....really exaggerate this follow thru and do not hit it hard just with a medium stroke .....but #1 thing is the "follow-thru".......put the any ball at the the rail near the head string......put the cue ball at the opposite head string.....both balls along the rail---1 inch off.......stroke the cue ball and your follow thru (tip) should follow thru all the way to the middle pocket......medium speed.....do not hit hard or jab at the cue ball......FOLLOW-THRU!!.....good luck on the tour!

To put backspin on the ball in billiards ultimately means to "draw" the cue ball in billiards. To do this you must give the ball bottom english. How far you want to draw the cue ball back depends on how much force you use when striking the cue ball or executing the shot.

The cue ball is like a clock. Aim 6 o'clock (low english) on the cue ball, keep your stick level, not elevated, and smoothly shoot through the cue with follow through.
