Most of the time I see the boutonnieres are roses. My wedding flowers are going to be mini orange calla lilies. Would this be okay to do a single calla for the men, or is it not a strong enough flower? I don't want it to wilt halfway into the ceremony. Would an orange rose be better?

Definitely use the calla lilies. Calla lilies are beautiful. And I have seen many boutonnieres made of them. This link shows samples of boutonnieres made from several different types of flowers including calla lilies: http://www.viviano.com/wedding/

Calla Lillies are strong enough for a boutonniere, so no worries there. The mini orange ones are going to look fabulous on the men's lapel. What a great idea! Roses are nice, but I think the mini Calla Lillies will be so much better. Congrats on your upcoming nuptials.

The Calla Lily is a pretty durable flower. They look beautiful used as boutonnniere. A single white Calla for the groom and coordinating orange Calla's for the groomsmen will look great. Go for it. Here's a picture.

I think a single orange calla lily for the men is absolutely gorgeous. The flower is beautiful on it's own. I wouldn't do a rose, I am planning a wedding and we're trying to stay away from roses cause "everyone" uses them! Good luck and congrats!

Callas are great and they hold up very well!! Those are perfect flowers for boutonnieres ... to add a special touch, add a few feathers or small branches to the back.

I'm using calla lilies too, and I've purchased silk boutonnieres for the guys. That way they'll always look good and each only cost $2.99. I ordered them from www.save-on-crafts.com.

I like the calla lily idea, its completely a strong enough flower to rest on a mans lapel. Talk to your florist, they will fashion something amazing for the men!

I think they are hardy enough for that purpose, and what a nice idea, it's great to see people have their own ideas and don't just do the norm anymore. Good for you.
