Have prayed for many years for something and still have received no acknowledgement, answer, solution or anything.
Don't start quoting Bible verses; I have two of them at home. I would like to hear from people who have experience in this area. It is written that "whatever you ask for in my name, it will be done for you". And don't patronise...I'm not asking for the winning lottery numbers, this is genuine.

It's not that He said no. It's that He hasnt given any answer! I'm not asking for something to be added....I want something to be taken away, and I've had years (literally) to figure out if what I'm asking for is wrong, will bring me or others pain etc;. This is something that causes me tremendous suffering and causes others to suffer too, and the one who says He loves me more than anyone else, will not dignify me with a response

This happened to me too and I finally decided God just doesn't care. Here's a few others reasons;
lack of faith
doubting God
using vain repitition
unforgiveness
spiritual pride
lack of persistence
not according to God's will
sin of the heart
improper motives
failure to apply spiritual authority
wavering faith
don't know how to pray
unconfessed sin

The only thing I can say about this topic is that I have had to wait longer for certain things that I would have expected. But eventually it all came true.

One other thing...Are you really really sure that you're not missing the answer/solution/acknowledgement. People always say be careful what you wish for because you just might get it. In other words if you asking for a new car, perhaps you will get the money to buy a new car or the opportunity to work to make the money to get that car but you have to put those processes into play and or take the possible risks or put a little more risk into doing something new to get what you want.

Hope this helps. I truly believe that perspective means alot.

It may not be God's timing yet....don't give up...sometimes the answer is just around the corner. I've prayed since about the time I was 19 for a husband. ....It's 24 years later. And I'm still not married. The only "answer" of any kind I ever recieved was a prophecy about one day I'd go to East Africa with my husband. (I do have a boyfriend now that we are talking about marriage though)

I know you said no scriptures but read Proverbs 3:5.

Have you asked others believers to help you praying for this? My husband and I tried for 5 years to have a baby and I never told a soul because I didnt want people to know how much I really wanted one. We'd pray together for a baby, while one day we were at a home bible study and I finally confessed to everyone all the problems we've been having and we had special prayer and a month later I was pregnant.

I dont know what your prayer is but you have to trust that God knows what's best for you. I use to pray that if I wasnt meant to have a baby to please take away the yearning I had and for 5 years I got to watch everyone get pregnant and I'd get so upset I'd spend hours crying, yelling at God in prayer.

Try fasting it does help. God bless

Sometimes things take time. You didn't say what your unanswered prayer is. But, think of the spokes of a bicycle wheel, sometimes you have to go through a series of events that prelude your prayer/wish being answered. You may not know it but maybe for years you've been on the journey or path of having almost reached the point where your wish wil come true.

God hears all the prayers of the righteous. But consider the following:

A Christian hunter is hunting bears in the woods. While walking up a hill he grabs a branch for leverage and it breaks sending the hunter tumbling down the hill, gun flying off elsewhere. When the hunter dusts himself off he sees a huge bear charging him. The hunter begins running, but trips and falls, landing on his knees. Seizing the opportunity, and being a good Christian, the hunter begins to pray, "Lord, make this bear a Christian."

The woods are quiet, the hunter turns and, Hallelujah! He sees the bear on his knees, paws together, praying! Listening, he hears the bear praying, "Father, bless this food to my body."

The key point here is that God answers prayers of the righteous, but the answer you get may not be the answer you want, BUT it will always be the right answer.

I speak to God just as I write these words to you now. I have a conversation with Him each day. My prayers are conversations that follow a pattern. I start every prayer with the following: "Most merciful God, not my will, but yours be done." I repeat that phrase often during my prayers. Sometimes I will do so for tens of times just to quiet my mind and make it open to hearing from my Creator.

Use the following pattern in all your prayers and you will see them answered: Adoration, Contrition, Thanksgiving, and Supplication. See the links below for more information. (acronym: ACTS)

I understand your pain. Though it is written "whatever you ask for in my name, it will be done for you" it doesn't nessesarily mean God will answer you with a yes. God can answer just as anyone else can, with a no, a maybe, a wait, or a yes. I believe God is telling you to wait, be patient. I understand that it is probably a very difficult and at times painful expierence, but remember God doesn't put you or anyone else in a circumstance that you can not handle. I prayed for great uncle to finally be pain free and healthy again for 3 years, and i believed it never happened, he passed away. But i reliezed that he finally was pain free, in all of heavens glory. Gods speed

just because it's not the answer we want to hear--doesn't mean he didn't answer. We need to pray that God's will be done in the situation--that we are willing to accept whatever answer He has for our lives--and yes, we are sometimes disappointed with the answer--but God does not measure time--so what we think seems like a lifetime, is no time at all to the Lord. Be patient, and diligent in your prayer life and accept whatever the Lord has for your life and situation and He will answer you.

It might depend on WHAT you're praying for....(your parents to get back after a divorce, end to world hunger, etc.)
Whatever it is, maybe you're asking God to work your will instead of his?? Or maybe you're not. Trust in Him, if He wants it to be it will be. If not, then it is not meant to be. It's kind of hard to answer, because you're not very specific. But, then again, no one here is God neither.
I ask God to hear my prayers and grant them if He wants it to be that way. Sometimes, I get what I pray for other times I don't but it all works out in the end!

God always answers, just not the way we want. Sometimes the answer is "not yet" or "I have something better for you."

also be careful not to take one or two verses to lay your whole life upon. the Bible also says we need to ask according to God's will.

As for the desires of our heart. I found that if I let God plant the desire in my heart, He will give what I desire or at least a plan for getting there. There have been times when I asked God to change my heart if what I wanted wasn't according to His plan for me.

I hope it helps. I will pray for you. I pray that you find peace.

You are asking for people to understand and know the mind of God, impossible, only that He is good.

I have prayed also for years for something, and am tormented every day for the answer, the answer "seems" no,
if it is no, then it's for my or someone elses good, but I cannot know the end of a thing unless God chooses to reveal it.

This is the battle, "faith" in His word.

I can say He has turned extremely bad circumstances into good "many times" and I marvel at how He did this, always impossible but He did, never as a man would do.

He is God, why am I so suprised ?
Little faith I guess, I am a stupid sheep, but one that He loves, but then again He says I will be like this also.

Don't ever pretend to know His answer "until" He decides to reveal it , if at all, and for His good purpose.

...a friend who "doesn't know" the answer, just that it is for good only, despite "appearances, and appearances and self gratification are the ways of this world, that we are not supossed to be thinking on, only higher things, not questioning but praising Him in all things He sets before us, good and bad. He waits to see our reaction, if we will glorify Him in it all.... faith.

Faith in Him is the battlefield.
