Absolutely. Most often They become lucid for me when I encounter one of the following. 1. My dream is a nightmare and in order to survive I become aware that I can control the dream element. 2. a problem that I'm working on in my sleep will not come together, I gain a semi aware in order to apply logic to the problem ( real life rules instead of dream rules) 3. I just happen to become aware I'm dreaming and decide to have fun with it. In every situation it is like having a divided mind. the one that is experiencing the dream and a separate one aware of what is being observed. you are still one person but it is like being in different places at the same time. allowing a multiple perception. you really have to experience it to understand the explanation fully.

Yes, most commonly dreams that i have full controll in result when I'm sleeping more lightly and or when i go back to sleep after hitting the snooz and or briefly waking up. Usually when i realize I have control of things with in the dream I become more alert and more prone to waking up. If it's a stressfull dream and you realize you have control you usually wake up. Or i do from my experience. If I'm sleep deprived generally i sleep more deeply and am less likely to remember dreams.
