Hi, Since I just had a newborn, most times I don't have time to make myself a hot lunch so I'll just throw together a ham and cheese sandwich and have it with some Lay's chips on the side. I always use whole wheat bread, turkey ham or lean ham, Kraft singles cheese slice and a little mayo and if I have time I'll add in some tomato slices and lettuce and like I said I finish filling up with some Lay's potato chips. Not alot of chips, just like a handful. Will this be bad for me in the long run?

Just wanted to add, I'm not concerend about gaining weight, just want to know if the daily sandwich and chips lunch will cause any healthy problems later on. I'm really concerned, becuz I used to eat pizza for lunch just about every day and got really sick to the point my gallbladder got full of gall stones and I had to have my gallbladder removed. I don't want to make the same mistake of eating too much of one single food.

Lay off of the Lays, they are empty calories! The sandwich you describe is fine, especially if you do add the veggies. Make a point of adding them. If you feel like something crunchy, do your self a favor and munch on baby carrots or a handful of nuts instead of chips. The nuts are added protein and will help you lose any excess "baby fat". But, keep them to a minimum, they also are high in calories because of their fat content; so have just a handful.
Read labels when you shop, it doesn't matter what type of meat you eat, lunch meat is all basically the same in leanness, just keep the sodium content low (below 500 mg per serving), and refuse to put partially hydrogenated oils or high fructose corn syrup in your body. These additives are what are ruining the health of this country and causing the rampant obesity.
And congratulations on the baby! If you are breast feeding, remember that what you eat, your baby is eating, so the healthier foods you consume the better.

Amen Hutub!
And try for some baked lays or pre-sliced veggies or a piece of fruit from the produce section instead of the Lays chips.
Also, look into a multi-vitamin so you aren't depriving your body of some much needed nutrients. Maybe drink a glass of milk with your lunch too.
Just because you have a newborn doesn't mean you should let yourself go, definately plan on more healthy items from the grocery so you have them on hand every morning.
And by the way, CONGRATS on the new baby!

Drop the chips, the trans-fats will get you. Try subsituting baked chips, or baked crackers. Other deli meat alternatives are turkey or chicken, pork is high in fat. Tuna is awesome to put in too. Also cut out some bad carbs by using whole weat or 9-12 grain bread instead of white bread.

Lean ham good, Kraft singles - ok; chips are unhealthy; try for some veggies or some soup (veggie, tomato, chicken broth); a salad.

Have you been noticing that your weight isn't dropping off?

well its not horrible but its also not healthy. Try adding some veggies, fruit, a yogurt. Something that is going to give you nutrients b/c what you are eating now really doesn't have any in them.
