Ever since my first son was born I feel constantly tired. I get 8 hrs sleep, do plenty of exercise and eat regular meals but it gets to 3 oclock and I'm ready to snooze. Any ideas why or advice to boost my energy levels. All nice, good advice appreciated

Take advice from a fellow mom. You are feeling burnt out when it comes to the afternoon. Simple solution put the little one in the stroller and go for a speed walk. it burns calories, uses it for energy, thus giving you more energy. It basically jump starts your system. it really works and it is simple. Try it this afternoon and you will see the difference. have a good day!

Well, I'm not sure how long it has been since you had your first child, but your tiredness could be due in part to your role as a parent. It's not easy keeping up with the little ones :) Also, you might be iron deficient. Next time you get a check up from your PCP, request that they do a red blood cell count, and an iron serum work up. If you are low, that would explain your fatigue during the day. It is quite common in American women because even if you eat regular meals, they may not have enough iron in them to meet your 100% daily allowance.

If you want to take iron supplements, I would suggest you take them with a glass of orange juice. Vitamin C helps with the iron absorption in your body -- conversly, stay away from dairy for about an hour since Calcium actually inhibits absorption.

How long ago did you give birth? Have you had any blood work drawn since? There could be many reasons why you are tired...maybe your hemoglobin is low or some of the essential vitamins like calcium and iron, or you are having issues with your blood sugar....having babies can take a toll on your body, as I am sure you are well aware of.
The other reason could be that you are eating a diet high in "bad" carbs and then when the afternoon hits and your blood sugar drops you feel tired and drawn out....when you start to feel tired eat something with carbs, but good carbs (whole grains, nuts etc) and see if it helps.....the other thing is if you are breastfeeding you need to maintain a higher carb and calorie intake so you and your son get what you need....maybe try a multivitamin ....your body will automatically steal from you to give your son the nutrients he needs.....Hope this helps!!

I get the same way around 2 o'clock. Try takeing vitamins like b6 and b12 at lunch. There's a great vitamin calle juice plus that helped me, it's juice plus .com. It's all natural and their really good. You may just try takeing a 30minute nap at lunch, that's what people used to do and believe me it really helps. In most parts of the world it's an accepted part of life. Seems everyone is in such a hurry, the old days of health have dissapeard but even doctors agree a nap helps. Your body is telling you so listen.

Kids make you tired...and they will until they are no longer in the house. I suggest taking Bvitamins (tablets, or drink mixes such as emergen-c). Try having your iron levels checked for anaemia. Check glucose, and getting even 9 hours of UNINTERRUPTED sleep will help.

After each of my three were born it took me nearly six months to get back to a schedule. Lack of iron in your diet may be a sorce or just getting your hormons back to normal, how old is your son. Ginsing works as long as your not breastfeeding
