Blond guy, right? Yep.

I did watch quite a few episodes - I'd say it was my first Britcom! The "pussy" jokes were a bit much, but yep, it had its moments.

Really? How sad. I watched it a lot. As you say, it was not a patch on Fawlty Towers but I was entertained enough to see it through each time.
We all have to go at some time but it is extra sad when an entertainment icon is taken away.

I am from the U.S. and I absolutely love AYBS?. I have seen every episode at least 10 times. I also have the entire series and movies on dvd. John Inman was a very funny and classy man. He will be missed.
