If we cannot eat animals, why do they have meat in them? LOL !! Those who say meat-eaters do not respect life are stupid, to say the least. Even respecting life or holding it sacred is bound by certain terms & conditions, like holding your own life dearer than someone else's, like in the case of self-defense. Does it mean Jain's cannot also join the army, any para-military forces? Can't Jain's become doctors because it entails killing virus & bacteria? What do they do for mosquitoes & flies?

Respect life, within limits as set by the Almighty, who knows better than any human does what is good for us & what is bad.

I think ALL religions "teach" that Life is sacred. Why? Maybe because it is life's experiences, an increased knowledge in life, and/or a search for more meaning in life, that caused [more] religions to be created and organized.

To "believe" that life is sacred depends on the person asked.

I believe that life is sacred. It is a gift from God.

The only ones who feel that life, in general, is sacred would be the Jains. The Buddhists come close but the Jains are more strict about it. The traditional image of Jains has them sweeping the path as they walk so they won't step on bugs.

Most others say that human life is sacred unless it believes in some other religion in which case it can be slaughtered according to the will of their god. Most religions view most animals as things that are there for the use of humans.

what religion doesn't believe that life is sacred? The wars that are fought in the name of one God or another are a perversion of whatever faith they pretend to practice. Even the Pagans that date back to pre- Judeao/Christian times believed life was sacred. The eastern religions believe that life is sacred, (for some religions living a good life is the way to reach nirvanah) Even in Greek Mythology, the Gods envied our mortality and thought life was precious. Why you ask? Because it is.

Jains believe that all life is sacred, including insects.

P.S. Christians who are pro death penalty (as the majority are) can NOT believe life is sacred. Anyone who eats meat does not believe life is sacred.

Christianity believes that life is sacred. The Bible states that God knew us before we were ever formed in our mothers womb.
If God knew us before we were formed, it is safe to say that He wanted us to be formed.

My Christianity holds life as sacred. The thirteenth commandment is: Thou shalt not kill. That is to say, MURDER.
And, "Why?".....Genesis 9:6 " Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man."
Murder is a sin against God Himself.

On that account: We ordained for the Children of Israel that if any one slew a person - unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land - it would be as if he slew the whole people: and if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole people. Then although there came to them Our messengers with clear signs, yet, even after that, many of them continued to commit excesses in the land. (Quran 5:32)
