yes, protein calories burn faster, or hotter than carbs and fat calories. As a vegan weightlifter I eat tons of nuts. Almonds, walnuts, etc. Tofu, lots of different beans. My recent protein vice are clif builder bars. 20g of veggie protein after working out. As the day progresses eat more protein and less carbs. You'll be golden in no time. I went from 180lb to 150lb on this advice. Naturally, the weightlifting and cardio helped. Good luck

protein stimulates the metabolism 5 times more than carbohydrates. However, this doesn't mean you should eliminate all carbs from your diet.
Buy protein shakes if your philosophy prevents you from eating from animal sources. There are amino acids missing in alot of non-meat protein sources that can only be found in meat.
