Under the Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Act 2005, local authorities have the power to issue dog control orders on dog fouling; keeping dogs on a lead in certain areas; excluding dogs from certain areas; and limiting the number of dogs a person can walk.

To keep abreast of dog control orders being introduced accross the country, the Kennel Club has set up a dog owners group, KC Dog. The group is free to join and you can sign up at Crufts, or by contacting the Kennel Club.

You did ask this before but I am in the US. We have leash laws regulated by our animal control officers. Defecating animals is propably controlled by the health department. I know of no laws as to how many dogs one person can walk but there are many localities that limit the number of dogs you can own. I would say the walking would be dependent on what you can control and if an official were to see things out of control they may come up with something.

This is an issue under consultation where I live at the moment. Crewe and Nantwich borough council.
It has raised a lot of strong feelings in people. There have been that many objections that the consultation time has been extended.
We would like any help trying to fight this so thanks for the information.
Everyone agrees with the dog fouling law (but this law is in force now yet not enforced in our area) and keeping dogs out of cemetaries and childrens play areas etc. But they are trying to bring in law to say that our dogs must be kept on a lead in public places. No point bringing in another law when they don't enforce the first one!
Our local paper has been full of letters debating this for the last few months. Feelings are running high!

Alot of people get in trouble with the laws of how many dogs you can own. I honestly do not know what the limit is in my area. The only law I know is the leash law that they have here, where you cannot let your dog roam freely. They have to be on a leash at all times. Unless they are a kennel dog in the back yard. I think that whoever takes care of those laws (I am assuming that it is Animal Control), they need to put the laws out there to where they are easy to find. Because alot of people do not know what the animal laws are around here. And it is hard to find them.
