Is there a special prayer for that.

Dear Lord, please replace the brake fluid that was lost because my master cylinder was leaking.

Dear Lord, please let the water cushion the impact instead of crushing us.

How does it work?

you pray for forgiveness of your sins.

Remember when Fredo was in the boat on the lake and he knew he was about to get whacked, he was saying the Hail Mary. It's kind of like that.

I can't believe I am saying this, but I am in absolute agreement with Jim Darwin.
I wouldn't necessarily pray to live, but ask God for forgiveness. (if I had the time anyway) But in situations where I have had a car accident or anything "scary" I have always called on God. Not saying that is the only way to survive it as many Atheists have survived things without calling on anything.

To be honest, I don't think I would think about praying if I was in a plane that was going down. It'd all happen too fast and I'd probably just be thinking "Oh [insert four letter cuss word]"

If I had time to pray, I'd probably pray to Thor.

In a Bugs Bunny cartoon, the falling airplane ran out of gas and stopped cold, suspended in the air a few feet above the ground. Bugs simply jumped out.

If isn't important you could joke about those things. But if the situation is as dire as you say, you need to trust God through Jesus Christ. If you want to, you could tell God that you want to be his.

What I have experienced is that people are ceatures of habit. They do what they had been doing in their habits in life. If they do not tend to desire a relationship with God as a practice, they do not lean upon Him in problematic emergency situations.

So those who think that they could do a quick prayer at the last second wouldn't tend to do that. They would react the way they trained themself to.

You have to pray for God's will. If it is His will for you to live, there is nothing impossible that can make that happen. You also would want to pray for God to give you strength to accept what is about to happen. And of course, you would want to ask God for forgiveness and repentance of your sins.

You pray for what you need and for the will of Heavenly Father to be done. And forgiveness.

If I was on a plane I would hurry up and screw one of the hot hostesses before we crashed.

I wouldn't pray. Why waste my last few moments of life? I would quickly review my happiest memories.

I guess comfort, and a helmet? I always kind of want cookies, no matter what the situation, so I guess some cookies too.
