Length = L
Width = W
Height = H

volume = L x W x H

it is pronounces as cubic liter, depending on the unit you use

example

square cube

Length = 2m
Width = 2m
Height = 2m

volume = 2m x 2m x 2m = 8 cubic meters or 8 m^3

In the MKS system, it's the cubic meter. That is, a box which is 1 meter on each side.

One litre is also often used (simce a cubic meter is a bit big) and there are 1000 liters in a cubic meter.

volume = length x width x height
so its unit is the cubic units of the three dimension (must all have the same unit)
ex:
m^3
but the only exceptional unit is liter which is equivalent to m^3
