There is nothing wrong with using a microwave, eating food cooked in one, or sitting next to one for long periods of time. Pay no attention to the nuts saying otherwise.

The microwave is safe and good. The people that tell you it is not safe are having strange ideas. Microwaves are in most every kitchen. Most restaurants have more than one. A lady down the street from me has two because she freezes a lot of food and it enables her to get a meal out quickly. Her husband built a nice double decker microwave rack.

People have been using them for as long as they have been available. How many legitimate stories have you seen in the news about them being unhealthy? If they were that bad, they would have been gone a long time ago.

Have them provide actual proof. The only time their not good is when you put a sealed metal can (creamed corn) in and turn it on. I know it arcs, but never got one to explode. Even a golf ball, after 12 minutes will not explode. The dimples smooth out, but the core will not explode.

Microwave everything and save time.
