well a promise is a promise you not engaged you got much freedom to do whatever you like. Who know this guy might be the one instead if yall 2 broke up have you ever wonder if we broke up in the future? Have you asked yourself that?

your problem is simple. Tell the guy that you were supposed to go to the movies with about your situation and be honest with him. If you want to get back together with your b/f then you have to cancel with this other guy. Otherwise you'll be leading him on and that wouldn't be fair to him. Not to mention your b/f wouldn't like you going with another guy to the movies so you have to end the situation and do it fast so you won't have it in your way. You do what is right for you though. This is just my opinion. Good luck though!

tell your bf that you promised and you don't want to break that promise to him but that you are only going as friends and that you made this promise after you and him broke up!!!
if he doesn't accept that you are going to the movies with just your friend then he is uncomfortable trusting you and thats something you need to talk to him about... good luck and i wish you the best

Well if you know that it will hurt your boyfriend, don't go but if you know that it will not hurt him, then tell him before going because if you don't and he discovers it, then you will still have problems with him. If you tell him and he refuse, then tell the other boy that you are sorry because you have not kept your promise. Make sure you inform him before time so that he should not be preparing to go with you meanwhile you will not go. Tell him in a polite way and in an apologizing maner

You can go out as friends, and you might want to tell your guy about this other person. Make sure he understands about it. But if letsay, your guy isnt that understanding, just tell the other guy about the problem.

go out on the date and forget about the boyfriend. NO man is worth getting BACK together with.You break up, you break up. Move on before you get on a roller coaster that you can't get off of. You will constantly keep going back to this guy and breaking up and it never ends.
