I have blond hair with a reddish tint. I would like the reddish tint gone. Any suggestions? I'd like to have more of an ashy color. Thanks!

Well there's 4 different levels of blonde to choose from, darkest to lightest is 6,7,8,9.

You are probably around a 6-7 dark golden blonde.

So you will need a 7 ash blonde.

You have to make sure it is ash, as that is the only thing that will cancel out the red. If you use a "natural" tone, or "N", then it will look darker and some of the red will fade back into it, as "N" carries some red in it. "A" or Ash does not, it carries green.

That's why when true blondes color their hair with Ash, it looks green or grey. There's no red in it. If you have red naturally, then it looks like a natural tone when you color it with Ash.

When you're shopping for your color, only use the brands that have the number and letter system, this makes it easy to pick one. You will need 7A, 7Ash, or Medium Ash Blonde. If it doesn't say that, don't buy it. If they don't have 7, you can get by on 6 and you can do the 7 next time.

Make sure you process for the proper time listed in the directions. There is a process that needs to be done. The first half is where the lifting of your natural hair color occurs. The second half deposits the new color. If you stop it early, you won't get the proper deposit of color, and fading will occur.

If you have color in your hair already, then you can't go lighter than the darkest part of your hair, as color will not remove color. If this is the case then I suggest going to a professional to get the desired look you want.

It's going to depend on how much of a red tint there is. If there is a lot of red, you are going to need professional help because red is a difficult color to remove. If it is truly just a tint, you should be able to get away with using an ash blond hair color. There are hair colors that specifically say ash blond. Don't get a regular blond color because most of them have the reddish tint.

To get rid of the redish tint I would go to a local beauty supply store and purchase the color you want, and also some stuff called R21 (Ibelieve, you can ask the sales person) It will remove the brassiness as well as reddish tint to blond hair.....Make sure you only use it for your blond hair...It will remove any lowlights you have in your hair......... Hope this answers your question......Blessed Be,
Kris

I really am a firm believer that everybody should use Nice N' Easy. Are you talking a kind of auburn color? Well, it doesn't really matter because they have an assortment of shades. I have never been let down with this brand. My color has never messed up, and it's always come out like on the box. My only suggestion is to maybe even leave it on longer than it states!

In fact, the ashy colors are the best to get rid of the red in your hair. I suggest that you use products like Loreal Excellence and Garnier Nutrisse because the shade that you see on the box is the shade that you will achieve.
