My sister is a very confident person who thinks I should 'get over' my insecurities (being shy and sensitive) and just get on with it. So I am meant to change my personality to make other people more comfortable around me?

You don;t need to make people comfortable around you, you need to feel more comfortable around people. That can be achieved by just being around people and by joining in (stay strong).
You will see bit by bit, your comfort level will rise along with your self-esteem.
Good luck from No Longer Shy (I took a job waitressing) an that did the trick for me.

there is easily no longer something incorrect with being shy and smooth mainly, until eventually you imagine there is an underlying issue? I particularly have rather a lot continuously been shy and smooth, fantastically turning out to be up, yet in my early 1920s even as i began to stay away from social circumstances, i knew there became different subject matters that needed addressing and after discussing it with 2 medical doctors i became clinically determined with social pressure. i'm no longer affirming that is the case with you because some human beings are only certainly shy, besides the undeniable fact that it does no longer damage to talk to a professional if it concerns you. truly some the most worrying those who i understand, or have ever met, were shy and smooth. it truly is only aside of who you're and it truly is an admirable trait to many human beings.

Truthfully, if you want to be more comfortable, you have to practice being outside of your "comfort zone". Its hard for a shy and sensitive person to be outgoing. You have to practice at it.

Having said that, if you like the way you are, people will be comfortable around you anyway. Maybe its time to take a good look at yourself and decide what kind of person you want to be and then just do it!

No being shy and sensitive is not wrong!! It is only a problem if you are uncomfortable/insecure about being shy! Your sister sounds very naive!! Being shy is a personality trait, and like you say it cannot be changed overnight. people will only feel uncomfortable around you if you feel uncomfortable yourself. It is possible to be shy and comfortable!!

Nothing wrong with it.

You could be introverted, you know. Do you spend more time alone because you're afraid of what other people will think of you, or because you find it more gratifying? If the former, you're shy, if the latter, you're probably an introvert.

Don't try to change your personality. It won't work, and it has no point.

Tell your sister where to go. If she does not like you for who you are she can p*ss off. There is nothing wrong with being shy and sensitive, she is just being ignorant and dumb.

Being shy and sensitive is just fine.
You should never try to change your personality for other people. Just be yourself!

No, there is NOTHING wrong in that, but usually those people suffer a lot and the stress impedes their life in many aspects.

Do follow your heart, your inner feelings and impulses or you will feel lost in the time..If you feel comfortable with you, others will receive your positivism and it is highly influencing..

Wish you luck!
