I have been dating this guy for 10 months. We both have a very stressful job and have been taking our stress out on one another by arguing. We have currently broken up, but we both care for each other very much and have been talking latley. We both agree that we want this to work out, we just don't want to argue all the time like before. We work together and I am looking to leave my job and go somewhere else. I do this because I know that it will help. He has mentioned Relationship counseling. I have never done that and am curious to what all happens in that kind of counseling. Do we talk together, seperate, or both? Does it really work?? Anyone that has done this please let me know what is all involved.

I am a counselor and it does work if the parties adhere to what is said and want it to work. The counselor will give tips on how to fight fair, which is usually the problem. Ego's get in our way, we take things personally that aren't meant that way, etc. The counselor if they are any good at all will point out different ways for you guys to communicate and handle stress, both together and separately. Good luck, honey!

It will work only if both of you really want it to work. A good counselor will talk to you both individually and together.

if both ppl want it to work and are willing to take the action and advice suggested by the counselor, chances are better it can work..than if only one person wants it to work
