I gave them my bank info so they could make a direct deposit instead of sending a check.

Direct deposit: within 10 to 14 days. Check by mail: three weeks, or longer depending on any prior issues that may be on your account.

www.irs.gov for status of refunds. You only need your S.S. #, filing status, and refund amount. Check with your state's website to see the status of that refund, if applicable.

Hi,
HRBlock did my returns on 2/27 and I received my Federal refund today 3/9. Had already received my CT State refund on 3/1.
I was told 10 to 14 days. Checks take alot longer to receive than the direct deposit way.

General rule is about 10-14 days after they accepted it. If it's Fed they say to allow three to four weeks but you should get it sooner unless u make a ton of money that they examine your return longer for deductions. States vary but three weeks is more than ample time. The earlier you file it seems that both Fed/State refund quicker than when the mass of documents received April.

Speaking of refunds, if there is any way you can tuck it away in CD or towards a Roth IRA do it... when you get in your 50's 60's you'll thank yourself for planning ahead. Because things u buy breaks down, gets used up and you have nothing to show for it in the end. But a 5 % or 10% yield on your refunds over your work life will make a difference in your future.

Here is the IRS efile direct deposit schedule:

http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p2043.pdf

The IRS always does direct deposits on Fridays according to this schedule, and you can actually receive a refund within a week, depending on your actual efile date. Remember when you check your status on the IRS site that they initially give you a Tuesday refund date, and then update to a Friday deposit date the week of your refund.

If your return was accepted before 11 am on Thursday, it should be deposited on Friday of the following week if no problems are found.

If you filed electronically, refund checks will be issued within three weeks after the acknowledgment date.
