I just recently had my hair dyed, and something irritated my scalp and left it feeling pretty itchy. Could this have anything to do with the swelling? I have also been very tired the past few days. My doc. is out of town and I would rather not go to the E.R. if it is not anything big.

I'm a nurse and worked in a hair salon for years--what more could you want?!

Hair dye is made of ammonia and hydrogen peroxide. These two household items work great but left anywhere on the skin for a period of time produce intense itching.

Once you get your hair dyed two shampoos are supposed to be done to 'double check' that all the chemicals are out. When hair dye is not completely washed out, you get terrible itching (usually along the scalp lines because that is the hardest place to wash out color) which will go away on its own after a few days.

As for your swollen glands behind your ears, there most likely is no correlation between the dye and the swollen glands. It sounds like you unfortunatly have caught a winter bug which is why you are so tired.

The only possible connection between the two is if you have an allergy to ammonia and or hydrogen peroxide. It is safe to say that you are not allergic to either because itching is normal and you would have more systemic (other body issues such as difficulty breathing, swollen hands, etc.) if you were.

Good luck!

swollen lymphatic system -- who dyed your hair? the swelling sounds like allergy at first but the continued fatigue is interesting. from past experience i suggest you do go to a clinic because you don't know what chemicals they used and your body could be reacting badly. the lymphatic system is very important in distributing fluids throughout the body, which means that if the dye first irritated your outer organ (your skin) it's now doing the same thing to your internal organs (lymph nodes, heart, lungs, etc). get checked out and don't make excuses up.

No option therapy or analysis from me. advise you deliver her to the ER now (you'll be able to desire to be, nevertheless, unsleeping along with her). something out of the commonplace with this sort of youthful baby calls for prompt interest. That she hasn't had a b.m. is unusual - she is, in all probability, dehydrated and could require an afternoon in scientific institution. go away a message with the pediatrician's answering provider as quickly as you already know what's occurring - he/she will decide to understand a.s.a.p. (the scientific institution will motify him/her).. wish your daughter will quickly be nicely.

Sounds like your lymph nodes are swollen, which means they are filtering a harmful bacteria of some sort. You could just have a virus or if it continues you should contact your doc.
