A simple "thank you" goes a long way. You could also do things around the home for them... like dishes laundry cleaning your room... All with out them having to ask you. You can also thank them by always striving to do the right thing and keep your self on the right path in life. Let them know you appreciate all that they have done for you and remember that actions often speak louder than words... but it is nice to hear the words once in a while as well!

With my father--at 95-- I care for him personally--seeing to his getting where he needs to go and that he has everything he needs on a daily basis-- he is still amazingly independent though and can still keep a great deal of his basics together BUT it is still a daily thing with all of the this and that's of general maintainance !!
With my mom--- I visit her (memory) at Crestview about once every couple or three months to tell her how its all going--- I usually take a single flower from one of my many greenhouse plants--- but I think she doesn't need the news--- I think she already knows how it is !!

Say thank you, I love you, and do things that are important to them, such as clean your room (if you are still at home) and be an asset to the family and to society.
Hug and kiss them whenever you can and SHOW them you are an appreciative child.

Well, you can do the Hallmark thing, or you can do the simple thing. Just tell them "Mom and Dad, thank you for everything you do for me. Sometimes I act like I don't appreciate it, but I do."

Speaking as a veteran dad, I favor spontaneous, sincere hugs. "Thank you Daddy!" is the one of the best things I've ever heard in my life, right after "I do".

I talk to them, let them know I now understand what they must have gone through to raise me. I tell them I love them, and appreciate them.
