I have OCD. Unfourtunately I also have bipolar, so I can't take the normal preventative anti-depressants for it because they send me manic. But I do take anti-anxiety medication (instead if being a preventative, it treats the symptoms) and it seems to work for me, although sometimes my OCD still kicks through.

I am a neat freak/perfectionist. Every shirt has to be folded the same way, pants too, hanger all have to face the same way with the front of the clothes facing to the right. Books have to be all face up spines showing, and all storage spaces have to be organized. I have been know to tear everything apart and redo everything if just one thing is out of place.

I count. And the numbers have to be even. count anything and everything in a room. But if I reach 100, it's even, but 200 is more even, but yet 200 still isn't a high enough number because 1000 is higher. And so it goes that I can get lost for hours counting and recounting and never reaching that "perfect" number.

Same goes for eating. If you want me to taste something, you have to give me 2 bites because I can't just take one (the even thing).

Cleanliness. I was my hands, brush my teeth and take a shower all a certain way. It has to be done PRECISELY one way all the time, or I get frustrated (sometimes I scream) and start the whole process over, even if I was almost done. This has been particularly bad on my legs and underarms because if I start the process over, they get re-shaved.

My house gets the same treatment. When I clean, EVERYTHING comes out of EVERYWHERE. The area is cleaned, the stuff is cleaned, and then put back. It takes me about 6-8 hours to clean my house.

I constantly check to make sure thing are off or unplugged. If we are going out of town, I will spend at least a total of an hour to an hour and a half checking things are turned off or unplugged.

I have other things as well, but I think those are enough for now!

I've not been diagnosed with OCD as I am currently on the waiting list. I do suspect however, that I am a sufferer.

My compulsions come in many forms, I have an obsession with 'contamination' - totally illogical, it seems to be an obsession with radiation and bacteria.

I'm also a compulsive counter and orderer. Things have to be 'right'. I get very upset and feel ill when things aren't 'right' (the coffee mug handles must all be at a 45 degree angle for example). Again, its totally illogical, but I just want to be safe. I know that realistically people won't die if they aren't lined up, but I don't want to take that chance. I just want to be safe.

I suffer with compulsive thinking that I can't control, and I get locking in thinking/talking cycles where I have to repeat a word over and over to cancel out the 'bad' thoughts I've had. I feel like the 'bad' thoughts will cause bad things to happen.

I am also a bit of an obsessional cleaner - if its going to be done, it has to be done right. I can't eat off something that I've not washed myself in my home. My partner isn't allowed to wash up as he won't do it 'right' - it has to be done in the proper manner, everything in the right order, or things will still be dirty.

I have OCD. Its very serious and can be quite debilitating at times!! My compulsions are many. Too many to list. But I also have a thing with numbers. Dont like odd numbers, must be even. The number "4" is a biggy for me. For example, I do certain things 4 times, etc. Mostly Im just extremely "neat and organized"! Labels on everything, etc. A place for everything, and everything in its place- kinda thing.

I have been diagnosed with suffering from OCD as part of a more complex anxiety disorder. It manifests itself in intrusive thoughts and I have a mental compulsion to 'neutralise' the bad thoughts with nicer thoughts. I seek reassurance from others that I'm not mad too.

I am in therapy however, and am getting better now!

My ocd is caused by borreliosis / lyme disease infection-though it can be caused by other thing s -like vitamin B12 deficiency,etc..the medication ANAFRANIL helped a lot without making me tired. But the antibiotics I take for lyme disease help too. Its worth checking the sites below-in particular if you suffer from strange tiredness, with ocd, typical of lyme disease-breakspear medical is a good place to be tested for lyme and other problems, your doctor may have missed.
