As long as your TV has the ability to connect to the DVD player, than there is no compatibility problem. I would check the cable connections to make sure it is tight both at the DVD and the TV. It sounds like the player is having a problem, is it too late to take it back for exchange? If not, LG has a good warranty program and you would be able to get free service to it. Look up "suppport" on their website. Good luck!

If there had been compatibility problems you wouldn't have been able to see anything on your TV screen. But it sounds like the problem is with the DVD player rather than the TV set.
Do you see the numbers rolling on your DVD player when it's in the play mode? Since your DVD player is connected to speakers in the home theater system, can you hear the audio when the screen blacks out? If the answer is yes to both the above questions, then the problem might be with the connection to TV set or the TV set itself. Ensure your connections are all right. Can you see the cable broadcast fine on your TV set? If yes, then your TV set is just fine. Call up the customer service for your home theater.

they should be compatible with all makes and models. you might not have something hooked up right or you need to buy this little box that you run the wires adn the dvd player trhrough for the dvd player to work. we had that problem and that is what is was. those little blacks box are about 27 bucks at wal*mart. it also could be that the thing is junk and the laser is messed up or it has a over heating problem it may not be on with the power but most all the ones i seen still run in some way. i would try a new one and keep the box and everything so in case the new one don't work you can take it back. hope that helps

the only way a tv set will not see a dvd signal is if your tv does not have a composite(yellow/white/red cables) or an s-video input which would also require a set or "rca" cables for audio. it sounds like it still works but i have a couple of questions that you might want to consider in your troubleshooting:
1. what kind of cables are you using?
2.did you scroll thru your inputs i.e. video1,video2...etc.?
3.are speakers connected to the home theater(LG)receiver?
4.if you only have an antenna input (f connector) you will need an rf modulator.
good luck.
