When you criminal gets out of prison he will have what is now called, Post Prison Supervison, the new name for parole. It will be in Illinois and he will have to apply for an "Interstate Compact" transfer to Michigan. Several strict guidelines must be met before transfer may be geanted. Your criminal will have to show he has a job waiting, family, transportation, etc. and it may still not guarantee his transfer. Michigan may not want to take on Illinois' problem child. There is no law they will have to. Why do you want to marry a ex-con for?

When your fiance is released, he may be required to report to probation and parole in Illinois before transferring to Michigan because Michigan probation and parole has to accept his supervision before he can move there. It is possible that this can be done through the parole board, but I've never seen that happen. All he really needs to do is talk to his parole officer, and he/she should take care of the rest. Obviously, he needs to make sure everything is taken care of before he moves.

I don't believe they can transfer parole!! Maybe it depends on the state? I just got married to my husband in there like 3 months ago in Michigan and I was going to move to Alabama, but I can't until his paroles over. Because Michigan doesn't allow it.

He must go to his counselor and see what the procedure is for transferring. In the mean time you can call The Department of Corrections in Chicago to see what steps he must take to be able to transfer to Michigan.
He will not be automatically transferred, without following the proper procedures.
