The idea that there is one "true" religion in an objective sense is an illusion. Try the ones you are interested in, and give them all a chance. If they try to coerce you into anything, drop them. The last thing you need is someone telling you that you have to adhere strictly to a code or suffer the wrath of...whoever. If you feel the slightest inkling of fear of damnation or loss due to a religious quandary, look carefully at why you feel such a thing and then determine if you're being "dogmatized." The best way to start on a path to personal truth is to adhere to an ethical code and see where it leads you. Don't just jump in anywhere and hope you made the right decision. Question everything and be ready to accept the answers and the implied motivations behind the answerer's words.

You can only look in the Bible for the true Religion. Jesus said you would be able to recognize the true faith: Matthew 7:19, 20, Luke 6:43, 44, & John 13:34, 35. Find the religion that is guided by these principles, and there is only one!

Stephie I don't think anyone should choose a religion based on another person's recommendation. Whatever religion you choose should be one that fits into your own personal beliefs and leaves you feeling good about the choice you have made. What's right for one is not necessarily what would work for another.
I would simply learn all that I could about each religion I was considering, then I would make my choice based on whatever felt right. It's entirely possible that you would choose not to join any religion. One can be spiritual without being religious. Only you know what suits you best.

Baptist because it gives the person the option to come to the Lord when they are ready. It also is a very forgiving faith that goes strictly by the bible. As a Baptist, I have been taught from day one that Jesus is the son of God and he died for our sins. I was taught that no sin was greater than the other and if I wanted forgiveness I should go to the person I wronged and then to God and ask. I love my faith because through it I talk directly to God and not through a priest. Also, Jehovah Witnesses have a set number of people who go to heaven However in my faith we are taught that the Bible says you will be saved if you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you walk in the way he would want you too. He understands you will make mistakes on the way and you will not be condemned to hell for them. Baptists are great because they don't just read the bible to you they explain it and break it down and wed don't criticize others.

Mathew chapter 23 Read the 7 woes, I especially like verse 15...here it is from teen study bible page 1289 (New International Version): Matt 23:15 Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You travel over land and sea to win a single convert, and when he becomes on, you make him twice as much a son of hell as you are.
I believe Jesus is stating to NOT follow any religious leader! They will ultimately lead you to hell along side them. As soon as a "chirstian" has judeged you he is acting unchrist like!
I read my bibles ( I bought 3 to achieve a better idea of what it truly means, NO ONE religion is correct.) I chose nondenominational christian church last Sept. I grew up United Methodist and all 5 of my kids were babtized in that religion. I believe Jesus did not want us to be a particular religion but to keep an open mind at all times. If you chose ONE religion your closing your mind off towards other idea's of the bible's translations. I believe it's best to have one's own opinion based on ALL the religions instead of only ONE.
Matthew23:23 (that means chapter 23, verse 23) Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices--mint, dill and cummin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law--justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former.
So many "relious" ppl believe that as long as they tithe their 10% they are "saved" but this verse tells them very differently. Oh, you must read the 7 woes! They are awsome!
For your distress: Read this allowed.
Psalms 4:1-8 Answer me when I call to you, O my righteous God. Give me relief from my distress; be merciful to me and hear my prayer. How long, O men, will you turn my glory into shame? How long will you love delusions and seek false gods? ~Selah* Know that the Lord has set apart the godly for himself; the Lord will hear when I call to Him. In your anger do not sin; when you are on your beds, search your hearts and be silent. ~Selah* Offer right sacrifices and trust in the Lord. Many are asking, "Who can show us any good?" Let the light of your face shine upon us, O Lord. You have filled my heart with greater joy than when their grain and new wine abuond. I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.

I will not suggest a religion, but I will suggest a relationship, a relationship with the creator of the universe, a relationship that will fulfill you and complete you, one that will give you joy beyond all human understanding. You can have this relationship only if you repent of your sins and turn to Christ, ask Him to make Himself Lord over your life, and He will free you, hard times will come but He will be your shield, your rock, your salvation, and your all in all.

I would not suggest any religious denomination. Knowing that you are born again by the spirit of God and an heir to his throne gives you the right and privilege to go directly to God, and be in constant communication with him. You now possess his life within you.
If you desire to have the fellowship of other believers then just visit different organizations and see where you feel most comfortable. I personally belong to no particular denomination. I attend services at several different churches on occasion where I am comfortable. God bless and may you find your safe place within the family of Gods children.

The true religion is "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints".
I am happy to hear that you are searching for the truth! That is exactly what the prophet Joseph Smith was doing when he asked God which Church to join. God revealed to him at that time (around 1820) that none of the Churches at that time were correct.
After the death of Jesus Christ the true Church was lost from the earth...Eventually the true Church was restored through Joseph Smith in 1830.
The key is this ---The Priesthood.
No one can simply just claim that they are a Priest and have God recognize it as valid...unless God has authorized them to be one of His true Priests.
Hebrews 5:4 And no man taketh this honour unto himself, but he that is called of God, as was Aaron.
The Priesthood is needed so that ordinances of salvation can be performed that will be recognized by God as valid(ordinances such as baptism for instance)
I would encourage you to continue to get confirmation from God himself of which Church is His Church! God is willing to give us the information we need to be saved...if we will ask for it in faith. God can speak to you through personal revelation...this is one of the most important things to know!
Good luck ....I have told you what the true Church is...but I do still want you to know it for yourself from God!
to learn more you can go to the official church website at www.lds.org or you can contact the misssionaries or just show up at a chapel (visitors are always welcome). (or you could email me as well if you would like to know more)
I am sorry to hear you are going through hard times...I hope that things get better for you soon!

I would not suggest religions. I would send the person to a bunch of priests representing different religions, to the holy books of those religions, to some scientific and philosophical treatises, and the person should make an effort and make up his/her mind by him/herself. This is quite an important decision, would you really like someone else to make that decision for you?...

all religions are the teachings of God--follow them truly and u'll find eternal peace.
but if that does not help, forget all the stereotype around, stop listening to people around you and do some research on Islam from different point of views and not media. beleive it or not u'll be satisfied. The teachings of Islam are have every thing that u need. The religion is not bad , it is ur belief and practice that is bad. The teachings of islam are for everyone who seeks truth and needs peace. It is the truth believe me. for those who do not believe, all i can say is May God bless them. Religions show us the light---any religion
