While they are purple the creme works on them pretty good. Once they turn white, your stuck with them.

You should not go tanning until you give the strech marks time to heal a little on their own, the sun will make the little purple lines turn into ugly white lines. Trust me on this, buy some mederma for the scars and wait to do actual tanning. If you feel it necessary buy the tanning cream or do the spray on tan. Later, after 2 years or more then tanning will mask it but at this stage of healing the sun will make it worse and wont let them heal or fade on their own. It has been 2 years since I had my baby and the scars are still purple (not white) and are healing very well. When I go in the sun I cover them up, its better in the long run. My mom had 7 kids and her stretch marks are barley visible, you really have to look for them, because she let them heal.

Well since no one else who answered actually answered your question, yes tanning does mask stretch marks. Especially spray tans or lotions. I wouldn't recommend tanning beds because they will definately damage your skin. Some places do Mystic tans and Airbrush tanning (what I would recommend). Also you could try an at home tanning lotion. I use St. Tropez tanning mousse. It's sold at bath and body and It makes my naturally fair skin bronzed and beautiful. It helps mask my little stretch marks and freckles. I love it! Hope this helps.
PS. Start rubbing cocobutter stretch mark cream on them as well. It'll help them fade, cause after they turn white THEN when you put on tanner you can't see them AT ALL

Okay...if you are talking about tanning bed tanning, can I ask you something? Which would you rather have - melanoma or stretch marks??? There are different creams, lotions, etc. you can buy to reduce the appearance of stretch marks (did you happen to use any while pregnant?).

well, about tanning I'm not sure about it. I have never heard that before. But I do know a few details about this. Use a lot of CocoButter product "Palmers" (you can find them in Brooks, Walgreens, or CVS). Do not scratch. It will take a while, I know it's a pain to have those, but be patient they will fade away.

You may want to also use coco butter lotion. It helps the strecth marks, but I would also go tanning to.
