The thing is that these guys didn't call the police right away and let them know that the deal was. They knew where, and what these things were...and it wasn't like it was just a local incident or that these guys were so busy that they did not have access to a TV.
For goodness sakes, the news was all over the cable and local channels...I mean even the Saddam and his sons watched CNN to see how the war was going.
I think that these guys watched the whole thing thinking that they were getting great exposure...what they didn't think about was all the people that were being inconvenienced by their tactic, and all the money the city was having to pay out to mobilize the police and all the special units.
I think it was a little overboard sending them to jail...I would have fined them for all the money that the city lost due to their actions, and left them open to be sued by the individuals that lost money or jobs because they could not get to work, etc, etc,etc...

The problem wasn't the expression, but the fact that it caused a bomb scare. It was still overboard to arrest them, though it has been worked out now. However, it these days of homeland paranoia, one really has to be careful about such things. It is not going to get any better, only worse. Especially with the present administration whipping everyone into a terror frenzy every time he wants some more money.

The last 6 years has been all about fear. That is the biggest tool in the Bush administrations arsenal. The Moonite scare is just one of the shining examples of how far the people will go in allowing the governmant to control their lives and strip their rights because of that fear.

It's quite ridiculous. The fear is artificial. Perhaps if they paid more attention to the current events and current culture, they could avoid these "misteps of justice".
I think a better approach to the situation would be to stop making people hate us so much that they would attack us, rather than fighting the symptom of our foreign policies, which is terrorist attacks against the US.

Well that's what happens when you let cops and government officials try to do a simple task of taking something down. I think they should fine the cops for stupidity.
