Clarion (pro audio line), & Alpine are good & easy to control. Pioneer premier, eclipse are also good. Sony (trash). You need a player that has atleast 3 (Sub,front, rear) outputs, and possibly a input (portable mp3 player hookup). Also look for something that has more than a 3 band equalizer, so u change ur sound to the way you want it. My Clarion Pro Audio player is about 9 years old, still no problems.

I found an Eclipse CD4000 on ebay new for around $200. It's great it has 3 sets of pre-amp outputs at 5volts each. so its great if your going to add a pair of subwoofers or power your componet speakers with a seperate amplifier. Anyways another positive it is does have the usual 200 Watts x 4 channels.

Probally the best thing it has is ipod hookup! It's good for someone on a budget looking for a head unit for a system!

alpine is the way to go, they have the best preamp section in the industry, plus dont use subsonic filters to allow for a more natural sound out of the player itself. Thats all Ive ever used in my personal cars because they are the best

Without a doubt SONY all the way. You will NOT be disappointed with a SONY. Pricing is great, quality is great. I've had Kenwoood (junk), JVC (junk) and several other supposedly awesome system big names. NONE of them compared to SONY.
