I have a 5 yr old, she's a very loving child, but she doesn't listen to anybody, to her teacher, grandmother, and us parents, we tell her to do something and she doesn't, yelling, spanking and putting time out doesn't work, we don't know what to do anymore, any suggestions? thanx.

I may not have kids(I'm 15) but I've done tons of babysitting, and pretty much all my older relatives have kids that I get to help with.

Don't hit your kids, it might just make things worse. Yelling might scare them, and you don't want your own kid scared of you. Time-outs sometimes work, but when I was younger, I found Loop-holes in time-out.
My suggestion is to just ignore them. It's simple really, if they ignore you, ignore them, soon she'll be begging for attention, and might actually do what she's told. Of course bad things can happen with this too, like she might continue to be bad, but, USUALLY it works.

Just give it time, act like she's just another picture on the wall, something to be admired, but not talked to.

To get respect from you child, punishment should be immediate. The time for counting, warning and yelling are over. Stop yelling at her. It's lost it's shock value. Just act. she'll get the message, that you are the adult. I get more respect from my grandchildren than their parents get, and I have never spanked them. Because Grandma don't play.

make a naughty matt. My son started getting out of control and so when he didn't listen to me i put him on the bad spot as he calls it facing a corner so he can't see or touch anything, soon she will get tired of sitting there and not want to go back she'll start listening, I got so sick of yelling :)
good luck sweetie

It is just a phase, at this age they all get little attitudes, it gets worse the older they get, I have a 7 year old that has really gotten a smart mouth, we are fighting every morning over what clothes she is going to wear.

try to just sit her down and talk calmly to her..asking her why she is acting the way she is acting..mabee she needs more attention...try rewards tell her you'll get her a candybar or a new toy for every 2-3 days that she listens to you and dosen't need a spanking or time-out...

i think the most important thing is sticking to your word! if you say you are taking something away than make sure it gets done. if you say she isnt going somewhere than make sure you dont take her. put your foot down and let her know you mean business. even if she cries and tells you she hates you....i promise she really doesnt and in the long run she will respect you.
good luck! :o)

Don't tell her anything to do. Leave her for one or two days on her own, without interfering with whatever she does. Even if she does not eat, leave her at that ... just keep an eye that she is safe. Then she will come to you on her own and start asking 'what to do?'

Just give her some time to get over with this. Every child has stages when growing up and this is one, soon enough she will grow through this and please don't show that you're withdrawing from her or loving her less than you usually do.
