The best gift I received when I was pregnant was a beautiful keepsake box to hold all the little treasures from my baby - - first haircut, first band aid from her shots, and now I am putting in little notes she writes me. The box is beautiful and I am sure that you can find something on line. Very sentimental

It is really exciting I know. I would start out by buying little things since she'll probably have a baby shower right?? So I would mainly wait and see what she doesn't get and then you can help her buy whatever else she needs. For now you could start out with the nursery set (most people don't spend that much money at showers buying that stuff). If she already has that, then maybe start out with a little outfit (unisex) or blankets (receiving, she'll need lots of those), bottles with the nipple like the breast, or maybe a baby memory book (those are pretty special). Good luck and have fun...Just remember not to get toooo carried away aunty!!! Hahaha Congrats!

For baby:

You could go 'heirloom' and get a nice silver cup, or baby brush, or one of those first curl/first tooth sets. If you're more interested in toy, then I found baby einstein videos were enthralling for my newborn. Or you could go cutesy and get a personalized onesie, like "My aunt LOVES me" or "My aunt thinks I'm awesome!". You can get these at baby stores or get them personalized on ebay.

For Mom/your sister:

Being a mom for the first time is SOOO exciting--and so overwhelming! Thoughtful gifts would include a pamper basket for mom, or a 'pregnancy' photo session (she would get it done around eight months or so), or something sweet thanking her for making you an aunt. Also, a homemade coupon book with offers of free babysitting, dish washing, or meal preparation would be nice, or even ten or twelve home made meals that you can put in her freezer for easy dinner prep--those first few months are insane!! Mostly, though, I would suggest just offering her as much support as you can over the next few months--drop by and wash the dishes and do some laundry, because she won't be feeling like it, take her shopping, take her out to lunch or dinner (to remind her that she's not completely isolated). And be sure to share her excitement--there's a LIFE inside her!!

Good luck!

Congratulations. Most of the time, the mom2be always gets overlooked. Remember that the mom2be needs some love and attention too. I would buy the mom a charm bracelet, and start it off with a rattle charm. When the baby is born, I would get a charm with the baby's name engraved and the d.o.b. Then, for every new occasion, I would add a charm. For example, for the first step I would get the mom a booties charm. For the first word, I would get her a "abc" charm. It's something that would last a lifetime and tells it's own story.

Congratulations! This is one blessed baby to have an Auntie so excited about his/her birth. I'd suggest one of the kits available to cast his/her precious little footprints in sand or something for posterity. They come with a frame, etc. and make a great little piece of artwork and a wonderful keepsake. You could spurge on a beautiful silver cup or spoon with a monogram. One inexpensive gift I love is called a boo boo bunny. It's only a washcloth tied to look like a bunny, but you can put an ice cube inside, and with only a kiss from mommy ,the boo boo bunny can make it all better.

I am going to be a real aunt in September 2007!!!! Isn't it the most exciting thing?

I am thinking of choosing something to buy for the baby that my brother and sister-in-law really need, like a car seat, high chair, swing...something that is a necessity and it would help them tremendously if they didn't have to pay for. I am praying for a niece...I think it would be so great for my little brother to have a daughter! Plus, my little girl is the only grand-daughter, so it would be nice for another girl to even out the scales! Oh, and if it is a girl I will probably buy her some sort of jewelry, like a bracelet.

Congratulations!

Firstly Congratulations and if your sister is that organised have you thought about getting something for mummy as well as baby.

Maybe a pampering kit, a pregnancy massage or a keepsake such as a Pregnancy journal, Belly cast kit or a photo session for the family before or after baby is born. Just a few things I could think of, anything you do I am sure your sister will appreciate it.

I just saw a canister set on a tv show. It has 5 tin circles (different colors) and the tops have a space to pour plaster and make a hand print for the first 5 years. I absolutely love it, and wish I had it! It is usefull and sentimental. I have no idea where to get it though!

Baby's nails grow fast and they scratch themselves. They sell little light weight mittens to cover their hands while they are infants and they are really cute, plus they keep them from scratching their faces. You could make up a little goodie bag with child protective things like electric plug blocks, child-proof cabinet door locks. And maybe a good first baby Dr. Spock book. Congratulations Auntie! Maybe even get a cute picture frame and make a copy of the ultrasound picture and give to her as a "babys 1st picture"

Anything from Baby Einstein is a good choice. Noting like getting the baby's brain going and it's unisex!
