I have a runt puppy who is 13 days old today. He is about one third the size of the other puppies and is both bottlefed and mom feed. He is starting to open his eyes and even tries to stand. The problem is I have noticed that one of his back legs looks like it turns in really bad. Also, when he tries to stand he falls on his side and can't seem to get back up. Will this possible correct itself as he gets bigger or is this something to be concerned about. Also is his size difference to the other pups normal for a runt? I have nicknamed him Rocky because the little guy is such a fighter.

At 13 days old, they are just learning how to get themselves up a bit. They will look very awkward and won't be able to be walking properly until they are 8 weeks. Even at 8 weeks, pups fall down and walk funny. My pup ran funny and wobbled until she was 3 months old. I wouldn't worry until about 3 months. If you still see leg problems you will have to get it looked at, but right now I don't think even a vet could do much unless there's a very seriuos problem.

Well, I am not sure about the leg problem, but most puppies at that age have troubles with their balance when trying to walk, since they are just starting to learn how to walk and move around. I wouldn't be worried about it unless me makes no improvement on trying to walk.

About the size, it is not unusual for the runt to be much smaller. I am getting a runt from a breeder in a week and a half(he will be 8 weeks) and the breeder told me that his sisters are twice the size of him...So he is much smaller too.

At 13 days old he is not going to be very stable to begin with. I always did keep a very close eye on the runts in a litter, I wouldn't worry too much right now but keep in the back of your mind everything you have a concern about this little guy. I'd reevaluate him in a week or so then talk with your vet about your concerns.

I think this poor little guy should be evaluated by a vet sooner rather than later. The size difference between him and the others is much more than any I've seen. I'd also be very concerned about an obviously deformed leg. Being very wobbly is normal, but it's the turning in that I'd be concerned about.
