I have 2 American Bulldogs and have never carried insurance on them. I spend roughly 1000.00 to 1500.00 a year on them. Would Pet insurance even be worth?

We have a wellness plan from Banfield Pet Hospitals they are the ones that are inside of Petsmart Stores. It is very reasonable depending on the age and type of pet about $25 to $30/month. It covers the routine exams, vaccines, teeth cleaning, etc... it also gives you a discount 10 to 20% on all other services that aren't included in the plan. We have had it for the last 12 years for our two large rottweilers and now have it on our puppy. Well worth it. It also includes free vet visits when you have concerns.

I almost got pet insurance for my cats. Then I called the companies to find out what's covered, etc. You don't save much at all. It's only worth it if something major happens and as your animals get older, but ofcourse the premiums go up as they get older as well. Save your money. It would probably suit you better to place the money that you'd be paying for insurance into a little emergency account and let it grow. That way you'll have it when you need it!

I've come to the conclusion that pet insurance (none of them) is worth it relative to cost. They have a lot of exclusions. The only time they come in handy is when your pet has a catastrophic injury or illness that requires surgery.
