Each time it has happened somewhere that I feel safe and secure, and I don't feel that very often, even at home. I don't take my surrondings for granted but whenever I think something(or someone) is okay, I'm quickly shown the truth. I don't want these experiences to harden me. What's going on?

Its sort of evident that those places where you think you are safe and secure, you aren't. maybe you need to re-evaluate what you think is, and is not, "safe", ya know?
People will steal your stuff in a damn church pew these days, honestly. I know you don't want these experiences to harden you, and thats really cool, it really is - but lots of folks
are tempted beyond what they can control, if its easy-pickings. If you're a heroin addict, and you have a chance to get $50 bucks, as opposed to having a bowel obstruction from not getting a shot, well,
quess what you're gonna do.....
You will have to hold on to your purse, and not let anyone be tempted; thats the only solution.
I know it makes you feel like crap to have to do that, I feel that way, too, but I got tired
of re-applying for my ss card, drivers license, etc....

Stop carrying a purse? You may just have too much baggage. Try simplifying your life. Just I.D., maybe a credit card and a little cash in your sock or pocket. If you do your hair and makeup at home, what else would you need? maybe a lip-gloss, but that's it.
You know, some of those experts I've seen on Oprah and other shows like that , they'll tell you that purse-thief's are looking for a specific kind of person - usually alone, head down, not paying much attention to their surroundings...if you're like that, maybe you just need a boost of confidence. If you really want to keep a purse, try hiding your money and id on your person, and just keep the non-essentials in the purse (makeup, receipts, coupons, etc...) keep your head high, and when you walk- walk like you have a purpose and constantly check around you. If you get that funny feeling like you're being followed or watched, don't ignore it, stop and turn around - or go into a store or something.
Hope this helps...hope I don't jinx myself, but I've been carrying a purse for about 8 years and have never had one stolen.

The universe is telling you that you need to harden a little bit or you're going to keep losing your purse.

Sounds like you need to get some counseling. You feel most comfortable with people who abuse you (steal from you). That indicates you need to learn new criteria for identifying friends. You might also try Al-Anon as well. They will help you see where your making mistakes without condemning you or criticizing you because they have (or are) there themselves.

Sounds to me like he is trying to tell you to take better care of your belongings... Doesn't matter how comfortable I feel in a place, I still take care to make sure that my purse is close..

try not having hundred dollar bills that bulge out, and make sure your purse doesn't blind people in the sunlight. It also helps if you look 60 and carry a stun gun.
