Stop eating food that has been cooked by conventional grills and ovens, this includes restaurants and home, where their sporadic 1-2 hour a day start up and shut down dumps tremendous amounts of waste heat into the house....which in the summer has to be air conditioned out, using up more energy a second time. Use a microwave to cook.
Don't dry your laundry with a dryer, either let a day or two worth of laundry hang dry inside, or if you have outdoor space, hang everything on a clothesline.
And absolutely convert over to those curly flourescent light bulbs, they are the only way my air conditioning is able to keep the house cool in the summer; incandescent bulbs give off so much waste heat that the A/C loses every time, thus proving the flourescent bulbs, which I use all year, are the most efficient. Keep in mind that light bulb heat causes a double energy wastage, not only when they give off heat instead of light but when your A/C has to run harder to remove that waste heat. Good luck!!

Unplugging appliances when they are not in use like previously listed. This includes everything from the microwave to your vcr. If it has a light on even when turned off unplug it.
What kind of light bulbs are in your house,. switch to the energy efficient ones. They can be costly at the begining but they save money and energy in the long run. Replace a room or two at a time instead of the whole house.
This depends on where you live, but can you hang your laundry to dry instead of using the dryer. It smells alot fresher and nothing is better than fresh crisp bed sheets. even if you live in an apartment building hang your longer drying fabrics in the bathroom or on a string on the patio etc. Things like jeans and heavy fabrics take longer to dry and use more energy. Hope this helps dont forget to turn the lights offf when not in use. have a good day and the environment thanks you for being energy concious.

I've changed all the light bulbs in my house to energy saving ones & have started to turn the TV & stereo off rather than leaving them on standby. I also do the washing on a quick 40 degree cycle & have just started a compost heap in the garden to reduce waste. If we all changed one or two things around the home it has got to help overall.

When a new movie starring, for example, Leonardo DiCaprio comes out, wait until its released on DVD, and then rent it on NetFlix. This way you won't contribute to Global Warming by driving to a theater to watch it, and it will lessen the consumption of winter heating or summer air conditioning energy inside the theater itself.
