Well, it's *a* question.

"What shall we have for lunch?" is another good one.

And "Where the heck did I leave my panties?"

I figure we'll all travel the undiscovered country soon enough; in my estimation, we can remove time from the equation, so that all of us occupy both states and the question becomes a statement: "To be and not to be. That is the paradox." Hamlet is dead in his mind before he begins, and his quandary seems to point at both life and death being undiscoverable and fraught with fear. And all he wants to do is take action, but by thought, the currents turn away and lose the name of action. Or, as an obscure silent movie title card from an obscure Douglas Fairbanks movie said: "Exhausted by the mental strain."

This has not been a real analysis, but rather an attempt to get my coffee working...in other words, no philosophizing before caffeine!

It's a question all right. But I don't know about the question.

Perhaps that IS the question. Too many people have chosen to NOT be, and simply doze through their lives without ever waking up. To BE requires consciousness and wakeful awareness, and this combination is rare indeed.

For millions of people the world round who suffer from depression, it's a question that stares them in the face each and every day. May they find the strength and balance to answer, "to be." Life is worth it.

"Depression is not sobbing and crying and giving vent, it is plain and simple reduction of feeling... People who keep stiff upper lips find that it's damn hard to smile." ~ Judith Guest

Well, not really. I mean, most people would tell you that they would rather be than not to be, so that pretty much answers that question.

I thought the question was what to have for breakfast.

Well if you think you are so if you are pondering the question you have already answered it.

Well, since we already "are" I think that is relatively easy to solve.

I don't know. I think it might be 'to flee or not to flee' - from the rampaging fundies.
