What is the country of origin did newscaster Katie Couric ancestry come from?

I did some research on the internet on her. I believe she is not of Irish or scottish descent. I found no one will give me a definite sure answer of where her origin is from. Is she trying to hide her heritage or something. I know she is part jewish/episcopalian, but what is her nationality? What is it such a big secret? When you search on the internet on her true origin, you get nothing. Very puzzling to me. No where can I find what is her nationality/heritage. I find that very strange. I hope I get lucky with Yahoo! and get a correct answer. Thanks all!

Doing a fast cruise through the US Census search on Ancestry.com, there was a Couric family in Alabama going back to the 1850 census. The foreign-born head of that family was born in France. I have no proof that this is Katie Couric's family but it gives weight to the name being French in origin.

Katie was married to Jay Monahan, and she apparently did not take his last name. If her last name is a stage name, then it will be of no help in determining where she descends.

She was born in Arlington, Va. Couric was graduated with honors from the University of Virginia in 1979 with a bachelor's degree in English and a focus on American studies. She lives in New York with her two daughters.

Couric could be her real last name, so if you look in Family Search.com you can see that it could be English or French origins.

I think there is one point to your question that needs to be responded to.
Apparently someone has already located the names of her family. I am curious as to why you feel she has any obligation to anyone, as to making her ancestry public?
Any living person, including celebrities, have the right to privacy, for whatever reasons they may choose. In fact, celebrities have even more reason, since many have been targets of stalking or other kinds of invasion of privacy. I really fail to understand why you would find this puzzling.
