I'm looking for a free software that can rip COPY-PROTECTED dvds & save them in video formats like wmv/mpeg/avi... Can anyone help?

It's long hard road to hoe to compress dvds down with the divx or xvid codecs....lots of ins & outs to learn and a lot of heavy encoding work for your processor

With dvd drives and media being as cheap as they are it's an entirly viable alternative....I do about 20~25 dvd copies a month from the blockbuster online plan....takes about 30 seconds to setup the copy and the software does the rest.

windows media player plays dvds so i don't think you need to get them in wmv format. download dvdshrink or fabdecryptor. they are free and work great. good luck!

I would use dvd-decrypter and gordian knot. I can't remember offhand but you might also need a vob to mpg converter. the converter (if needed) and gordian knot are available at sourceforge.
