This is the rule of reciprocity: treating people the way you would like to be treated!
Unfortunately their are a lot of people in the world that say they believe this but they do not do it.
My father has instilled this philosophy in me since I was a little girl. I would say I have lived by this philosophy about 90% of the time. I have learned a lot from my human errors.
My biggest issue is having people treat me like an adult and not talk "at" me. I have a very young appearance, so people usually talk "at" me like I am a teenager. I am 31 years old but I can easily be mistaken for a 17 yr. old. I have had 12th graders think I am younger than them. When I go to my daughters school, she is 11, teachers think I am a student.
Even in the workplace I have people assume I am a "kid" based upon my appearance.
All assumptions are put to the side once I speak and voice my opinions. Then people start to ask "How old are you?". It is funny watching people guess how old I am. They always guess wrong.

I personally think if people would practice more reciprocity this world would be a better place. But it is more than just do unto others as you would like them to do unto you, the actions must produce a positive and equal reaction.
So in other words what you do has to be good/right.
Remember that!

Now that's something I can support.

Fortunately, for the most part people don't do unto us as we have done unto them, or else most of us would be in for some serious beat downs.

I try very hard to live by the Golden Rule and to teach my kids to do the very same. Sometimes I fail. I am, after all, only human. I've found it's a great way to practice and to teach kindness, compassion, empathy, and respect.

Certainly. There's good reasons a version of the rule is in all religions. It's based on one of the main laws of the universe, which is energy follows thoughts and the one of manifestation. What you think/do today is what the universe brings you in your tomorrows.

Absolutely!

I have learned early in my 75 years here on this earth that it is not what you "get out" of life that matters.

Its what you put into it that counts and when ever you do good for folks God repays you many times over.

Yes. If everyone truly followed that, the world would be a much nicer place.

Sounds like a quick way to end up with a sexual harassment lawsuit. I suggest doing to others what they would like done to them, it will get you into a lot less trouble.
